April 29, 2018 @ 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Regional olive oil

Dr Richard Gawel embarks on a new olive industry project called “PROJECT 0743 – Provenance Together” which is currently underway and will offer practical sensory tasting knowledge.

The aim of the Regional & Varietal differences in Extra Virgin Olive Oil Course is to train olive growers interested in provenance to recognise and evaluate regional and varietal differences in extra virgin olive oil. Extra virgin olive oil made from the Frantoio variety grown in the Fleurieu region of South Australia and South East Queensland will be the focus, but these will be benchmarked against quality international examples of both Frantoio and other varietals. New, quick and simple ways that can be used by small industry groups to profile the regional taste of their olive oils will be shown by practical example.
